Reviews
I came for restaurant week and they had a really great specials going on; I got wine, salad/soup, and entree. The steak was great, I didn't even need sauce to eat it, and the scallops were cooked perfectly. I also tried a specialty cocktail, the smoked bramble, which was also very tasty. The ambiance is very chill, I would definitely come back for special occasions
Southern charm with Manhattan style and elegance. My husband and I tried Carolina Strip Club out for the first time on Valentine's Day. They had a special menu for the evening which was a great deal considering it included a 5 course dinner and two glasses of champagne. Cocktails were amazing. Emily D. (Our fabulous bartender) made a great recommendation on the whiskey for my cocktail. Between the Angels Envy and the freshly made sour mix it was easily the one of the best whiskey sours I've ever had. It was so good in fact that my strictly double Grey Goose on the rocks drinking husband had to sneak a few sips. Emily D. and Michelle were both very attentive and engaging in conversation as we were seated near the bar. Our server, Adrian, was equally knowledgeable and lively and engaging. Very friendly and personable and stopped in frequently (But not too often) to check on us and see if we needed anything. As for the main course, we both ordered the filet. It's here I have to pause. Between my husband and I we have eaten in some of the mostly highly regarded steakhouses in the country. This filet easily bested all of them. It was cooked perfectly to our preferred temperature (His medium well; mine medium). The rest of the meal was incredible but the filet was the absolute crown jewel of the dinner. The cheesecake and tuxedo chocolate cake we had for dessert was also incredible. Here's what we loved and appreciated the most -- everyone seemed to really care about their customers. Mark (The owner) called earlier in the day to confirm the reservations with my husband and make sure we'd been made aware that it was strictly the special menu for the evening. He came over himself and checked on us a few times to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and didn't need anything. I can tell how much pride and dedication he puts into his restaurant. Mark (The chef) also came out and checked on us and the other tables making sure the food was perfection (Which it was and we told him as much). Everyone was just incredibly warm, friendly, and attentive to every detail. They made it a team effort to make the evening amazing for their diners. Decor is stunning and the pictures online do not do it justice. It's romantic and has Old Hollywood charm. Autographed pictures of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin hang on the walls but you expect to glance across the room and see them seated at a corner table with cocktails in hand and a bevy of blondes surrounding them. Elegant is the word that keeps coming to mind. The music choice is classics like Frank and Nat King Cole and allows you to relax and enjoy yourself and your companion without feeling rushed out so they can turn over the table. Go with an open mind and you will enjoy exactly what we did -- a truly incredible fine dining experience. We were blown away our first visit and will be back for many special evenings and the occasional Tuesday.
We have been waiting a while to try this place out, just based on the mixed bag of reviews. We are kicking ourselves for waiting this long! This place is beautiful inside, and the food is amazing. The atmosphere transcends you to an old school speakeasy or a steakhouse where you are expecting to see the Rat Pack in a corner booth. The service is friendly and efficient without someone hovering over you. This is a great atmosphere for date night, a special occasion celebration, or a dinner with a few friends. We walked in with no reservation on a Saturday night after 8, and the place was full. The host was nice enough to flip a table for us very quickly and we were seated within 5 minutes of walking in the door. Our water was poured immediately, and we started with a few drinks. I had a gin martini that was superb, and my SO had a Mint Julep (a homage to derby day) that he adored. We also had a few glasses of wine with dinner, and they have a large offering of wines by the glass and by the bottle. You see the usual high end offerings and a few unexpected ones as well. We wanted to order an appetizer, but nothing the appetizer menu really appealed to us. I wish they had a few more upscale offerings (oysters rockefellers, crab wontons, escargot, etc) but we did not come for the apps, we came for the steaks. So, we skipped to the main event. We both ordered steaks, I ordered the 12 ounce New York Strip cooked Pittsburgh style and my SO ordered the 6 ounce filet mignon. Both steaks came with a side and a salad. We both had Caesar salads, which were excellent and not overly sauced. For sides, he had the Smoked Gouda Mac and cheese and I had the Brussel Sprouts. Both of the steaks and the sides were phenomenal. My Pittsburgh style NY Strip was charred to perfection on the outside but a perfect Medium Rare on the inside. His filet was amazing. The sides were yummy. The smoked gouda Mac and cheese wasn't overly fancy but was just delicious and the Brussel sprouts were done exactly the way I do them at home. The steaks are Allan Brothers meat, so you're getting the same steak you get at other "fancier" places in town for less money and less pretension. We split a piece of cheesecake with caramel sauce for dessert and it was really good. Our waiter William was incredibly accommodating and super nice. He was very busy when we arrived, so we explained to him that we were going to settle in with a cocktail or two and stay for a while and he didn't rush us. We really appreciate that. If you are looking for a quick bite before bar hopping, go to their bar. This is a beautiful restaurant whose tables are meant for savoring the company you're with and the delicious food and drink. I was extremely impressed with the food, the service, and the atmosphere: this trifecta will keep us coming back for more. If you haven't been,GO!
